Synopsis

In a town located on the banks of a river several days have passed without stopping to rain. There they live, in an old house that serves as a tenant, Andrés, a twelve year old boy and his mother Sandra. Sandra is a resentful woman because of a deep sorrow of love. She became pregnant and Juan, Andrés' father, pressured her to have an abortion but she, in love, insisted on having her son. In retaliation Juan abandoned her. When Andres was two years old and had already started walking, Sandra accidentally dropped him and the child was unable to move his legs. Since then Sandra blames herself and transmits that hopelessness to her son. Despite this, Andres is an intelligent and tenacious child who has not lost hope of regaining the mobility of his legs.

Solara's constant help is her main motivation. She is a young woman of thirty years who took refuge in the practice of Yoga and Meditation to try to heal her life after being raped by members of a paramilitary group. Solara has taught Andrés that meditation and yoga are the instruments that will help him to recover his mobility. This is how the life of Andres takes place between these two emotional and opposite environments that his Mother and Solara offer him. In the middle of a fire Andrés is caught in the middle of the fire and has to take out the full potential of his being to save his life. This event marks the beginning of a stage in the life of the child that will take him to recover the mobility of his legs, to reconcile with his mother and to find his first love. "Rain, The Music of the Soul" is first and foremost a story of overcoming how adversities test the inner capacity of each being to overcome them and thus achieve the deepest desires. It is also a metaphor about how the energies of nature penetrate the most recondite corners of the soul and influence our sensibility.
